Position Details

Do you love evaluation?

Are you an experienced evaluation professional who can design robust evaluation frameworks, uncover meaningful insights from complex programs, and confidently translate evidence into strategic decision-making?

This is not a typical project role.

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) are seeking a highly capable Senior Project Officer, Services Framework to lead high-profile evaluation projects that influence the way services are delivered across our organisation. You will work at a strategic level across NPWS, helping to answer critical questions about what is working, why it is working, and where we can improve to achieve better outcomes for parks, people and Country.

As the technical evaluation specialist within the Business Performance and Reporting Unit, you'll have the opportunity to apply your expertise to complex organisational challenges, generate evidence-based insights, and support senior leaders to make informed investment and service delivery decisions.

About the role
The Business Performance and Reporting Unit plays a critical role in strengthening operational management across NPWS through the design and management of service frameworks, performance reporting, planning and strategic insights.

In this role you will:

* Design and deliver high-profile evaluations that influence decision making across NPWS.
* Measure and assess program outcomes, benefits and impact using contemporary evaluation approaches.
* Transform complex evidence and data into practical insights and recommendations for senior leaders.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to improve services, programs and performance.
* Shape how one of Australia's leading conservation agencies measures success and delivers public value.

Why this role is different
This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to move beyond delivering projects and focus on evaluating whether programs are achieving their intended outcomes.

You'll be working across a large, complex and purpose-driven organisation that manages more than 890 national parks and reserves across NSW. Your work will directly contribute to improving how services are delivered and how public value is measured and demonstrated.

You will enjoy:
* A high-profile role with visibility across NPWS
* Significant autonomy and the opportunity to influence strategic decisions
* Complex and meaningful work with real organisational impact
* Collaboration with senior leaders and subject matter experts across the state
* The chance to help shape the future direction of services supporting one of Australia's most respected conservation agencies

About you
We're looking for an experienced evaluation practitioner who can hit the ground running.

You will bring:
* An appropriate tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
* Demonstrated experience designing and delivering evaluations of programs, portfolios, projects, policies or strategic initiatives.
* Strong knowledge of contemporary evaluation methodologies, outcome measurement, benefits realisation and performance frameworks.
* Experience translating complex evidence and data into practical recommendations and strategic advice.
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence decision-making across diverse groups.
* Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capability.
* Experience working in complex organisational environments where evidence informs investment, planning and service delivery decisions.

Join us
If you're passionate about using evidence to improve outcomes and want to apply your evaluation expertise to work that supports the future of NSW's national parks, we would love to hear from you.

Help us answer the questions that matter most and shape the evidence that drives better decisions for people, parks and Country.
