First Person Consulting (FPC) is a Melbourne-based consultancy where staff specialise in evaluation, systems thinking and strategy, and social research and design. Since our formation in early 2015 we have delivered more than 500 projects for government, not-for-profit, philanthropic and community organisations across Australia, with team members based in Victoria and Tasmania.

Our evaluation practice spans program, impact, developmental, and systems and place-based evaluation, along with evaluation frameworks, program logics and theories of change, and evaluation capability building. Alongside this sits our systems thinking and strategy practice – systems mapping, social network analysis (SNA) and strategic planning for complex systems. FPC is one of the only specialist evaluation firms in Australia that routinely applies SNA techniques to its projects. Our research and design work combines rigorous social research with human-centred design to develop solutions that meet real needs.

We work across public health and health promotion, mental health, environment and climate change, family violence prevention, community services, emergency management, education and training, and local government.

Our team brings diverse disciplinary backgrounds and a highly collaborative approach to every engagement. Underpinning this is a drive to produce work that is useful and usable for our clients and their stakeholders, and to keep people at the centre of how we do it.
