Event overview:

Commissioners of evaluation are increasingly including in the mix of evaluation questions whether the program represents ‘value for money’ yet often this requirement can be less than clear. This panel presentation is an opportunity for you to engage in discussing what does it mean, when is it appropriate to consider value, what do you need to consider when undertaking value for money evaluation. This is not so much a presentation of methods but more of sharing of insights from panel members on their collective experience and more importantly for you to contribute to the discussion.

The panel discussion will go for approximately 20 minutes. The rest is up to you to ask, challenge and contribute so that we can all benefit from the collective experience of a broad range of evaluators.

Presenter details:

Associate Professor Chris Schilling is an applied health economist at the Health Economics Unit and the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne. Chris has worked in senior positions across academia, government and consultancy.

Dr. Brita Pekarsky is an applied economist. She has spent the last 35 years in various roles including an academic, researcher, consultant, independent advisor and public servant. Her interest is in the pursuit of public value in health, and in particular, in understanding the process and consequences of assessing public value in a strategic market or political context.

John Pilla is an independent evaluator with over 30 years’ experience in undertaking evaluations of programs - large and small – in health, community services and education. His particular interest is in exploring value for money evaluation that supports practical decision making.

This is a free event organised & hosted by the South Australian Regional Network of the AES. Our seminar series provides an opportunity for you to meet with AES members and others in the evaluation community and to share and learn from the experiences of fellow evaluators.
