Workshop Overview
This training is for those working in partnerships and collaborations, with interests in learning and evaluation and navigating the complexities of how power shows up and is distributed between actors.
Much attention is being given to collaborative ways of working for tackling complex challenges, including those related to the sustainability of the planet, the health and wellbeing of populations, and the prosperity of our economies. Partnerships bring together actors from across diverse sectors and settings, creating, subverting and even increasing experiences of power between sectors, people and organisations. Evaluating and learning about power within a collaboration, and how a collaboration influences power structures, is challenging.
This 1-day training provides participants with a practical introduction to evaluating power within partnerships and collaborations, with a focus on how to navigate challenging dynamics from the outset, and work to redistribute power over the life-course of a partnership.
Workshop Content
Through highly interactive sessions, participants will examine the structures, processes and intended outcomes of partnerships, and the different ways that power can be measured, challenged and shared.

Who should attend?
If you are working in, or interested in, learning about partnerships and improving their performance, then this course is relevant to you. Measuring impact and sustainability is notoriously difficult, and in collaborative partnerships - even more so. You will gain practical skills in exploring manifestations of power within partnerships and identifying meaningful strategies to disrupt and distribute power - and insights into how to use these skills for improving your partnerships and communicating progress.
This course is for anyone working in or interested in partnerships who wants to learn about and evaluate power. Participants may occupy many different roles within platforms or partnerships and no prior experience of learning and evaluation is required. This is foundational and intermediate – assuming some working knowledge of evaluation, with less experience with concepts of power or collaboration.
