We’re looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Analyst with relevant experience to join the BSL’s MEL team based in Fitzroy on a permanent full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.

THE ROLE
The MEL team is situated within the BSL’s Social Policy and Research Centre (SPARC), which is the longest running and largest social policy research centre in a non-government community sector organisation in Australia. The MEL team integrates diverse expertise to build monitoring, evaluation and learning systems that enable reflection, adaptation, and impact. We do this by collaborating with partners in research, service development and policy to:
Develop and implement outcomes monitoring frameworks for practice areas, services and systems change initiatives;
Rigorously evaluate our service models and change initiatives to understand and demonstrate our impact;
Cultivate and embed a learning culture through the development of inclusive platforms, processes, and resources supporting inquiry;
Promote and apply ethical MEL practices that expand the capability of BSL staff, partners, and service participants.
Salary will be in the range of $93,861.36 - $98,110.59 per annum based on skills and experience plus superannuation.
WHAT’S THE OPPORTUNITY?
We are seeking a MEL Analyst to work closely with stakeholders to scope and develop the data collection and reporting systems used to evidence and analyse the effectiveness of the services and systemic change initiatives delivered by BSL and our partners.
This includes integrating data from a variety of systems and sources to create insightful reports and intuitive resources that enable users to explore data and answer questions supporting continuous learning and improvement. The role will also contribute to the development of data workflows and governance to ensure reporting is timely, accurate, and ethical.
The analyst will contribute to cultivating an active learning culture across the BSL where we routinely distil and engage with evidence to adjust, enhance and scale our service models and initiatives.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We’re looking for an applicant who has a passion for advancing BSL’s mission and the following key skills and experiences:
Tertiary qualification or specialised training in a field with an emphasis on quantitative data analysis, such as the social sciences, public policy, or computer science;
A minimum of two to three years post graduate experience in a related role;
A track record of successfully delivering a portfolio of projects;
Demonstrated experience extracting, transforming, loading and reporting on quantitative data to inform decision-making, especially in constructing and managing interactive reports using business intelligence and data visualisation tools;
A passion for developing, understanding and harnessing evidence to improve service delivery, inform decision making and influence systems change to end poverty in all its forms;
